This workshop will unpack the purpose and content of the Te Kōrerorero resource and make direct connections to priority 4 of NELP: Ensure every learner/ākonga gains sound foundation skills, including language, literacy and numeracy).
Del will:
- Share key research about the importance of explicitly planning and delivering oral language pedagogies in an ECE context.
- Work through the importance of ‘serve and return’ and ‘descriptive commenting’ and share resources and practical strategies for kaiako.

I'm an Education Consultant based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, New Zealand. I am the director and a PLD consultant with Coactive Education and I work in a variety of schools, early childhood centres and Kāhui Ako.
I work alongside teachers and school leaders to grow practice, improve learner outcomes and support sustainable changes in practice and school systems. Specialist areas: oral language, literacy, local curriculum, assessment for learning, cultural capability and digital technologies.
