A well-structured human resources system supports employees and management to be successful in their work and reach their potential.

Part of a good HR system is understanding how to manage your staff within the workplace but also how to help them through challenging situations or events outside the workplace that is affecting their wellbeing or safety.

The Ministry of Education’s Licensing Criteria for Early Childhood Education and Care Centres 2008 includes GMA7, a standard that requires:

  • implementation of suitable human resource management practices
  • a system for regular individual development planning and professional growth cycles
  • provisions for mentoring.
