Criteria Submission To The Ministry Of Education

The Ministry of Education recently asked for feedback on the criteria component of the new regulatory structure for early childhood education. In response to this request, the ECC surveyed its members to ascertain which criteria centres ‘would have significant difficulty meeting’. We also asked for feedback on what might be done to improve problematic criteria.

The introduction of the proposed new regulatory framework will be one of the most significant changes to the ECE sector in some time and will affect every centre in the country. We were therefore thrilled to receive such a significant number of responses to what we know was a complex and lengthy survey. We received 188 responses from our 620 members.

Attached is our submission to the ministry based on the responses we received. This substantial submission includes statistics from the survey results, the ECC’s interpretation of the data, and suggestions from members regarding the criteria.

We would like to thank our survey respondents for providing us with such comprehensive and relevant responses – your feedback was vital in guiding our reply to the ministry’s request for feedback.
