| Important New Resource For Community Centres |
| |
The Early Childhood Council has developed a valuable new resource for its community-owned centres.
The Good Governance Guide and Tool Kit for community-owned centres covers the roles and responsibilities of governance; structure, membership and expertise of the board; and activities and functions of the board. The handbook recognises that the most effective boards and committees have a clearly defined role, and that the boundaries between their functions as governors of a centre and the role of management and staff is also clearly defined. The handbook aims to help community-run centres define these roles and to make this structure work.
Steven Nayda, the author of the handbook, will be presenting an important two-part workshop at this year's ECC Annual Conference. The workshop will take participants through the handbook and will allow plenty of time for questions and discussion.
While the handbook is a stand-alone resource, the chance to be guided through it and to have time for questions with the author will be invaluable. Please note this workshop consists of two 1 ½ hour sessions and will be most valuable if participants attend both.
This resource is available free exclusively to ECC Members. If you are interested in joining the ECC, call us on 0800 742 742 or send an email to ECC Administration Manager and we will post you a membership information pack.
ECC Members also have access to a number of ECC Member Benefit Schemes, which provide discounted prices on numerous products and services including arts and craft supplies, stationery, photocopiers and other electronic equipment, direct debiting systems, fuel, toll calls and much more. ECC Members also receive important sector information via a weekly electronic and a monthly hard copy newsletter. Members also gain access to the ECC’s expert advisors via phone and email advice and support.
